A Room with a View

Danielle & Jeff's wedding reception took place at the top floor of the DeSoto Hilton in the middle of the Savannah historic district. The Harborview Room offers great panoramic views of the skyline. After spending 4 years in Savannah at SCAD I never got to see the city from this vantage point until now.

Miss Jennifer Rae

Miss Jennifer Rae makes custom bridal bouquets out felt, buttons, and other fun stuff. If you are looking for an alternative to the traditional flower arrangement visit her Etsy store. What strikes me most about these is that it is something the bride can keep for long after the wedding day is over. Here are some images from Carrie Beth & Brent's wedding featuring the Miss Rae's fine work.

Sublime Doughnuts

Sublime Doughnuts is a shop just off the Georgia Tech Campus on the westside of Atlanta. It was the perfect choice for Tech couple Carrie Beth & Brent's "wedding cake" since they met and graduated from this favorite student spot. They even make a Smores Doughnut and it's the best bakery creation I have ever had.

Feagin Family (Patrick's One Year Shoot)

The Feagin's son Patrick had his first birthday in March and we took these photos to celebrate! It has been great to capture his growth from a newborn to a little man with lots of character and personality in just one year.

Jennifer & Adam Walk Decatur

After Jennifer & Adams' ceremony at the Saint Thomas Moore Catholic Church in Decatur we walked down Ponce to the reception at the Old Courthouse, taking pictures at their favorite spots along the way. Loved that they were willing to walk across most of downtown Decatur for some good pictures. It really made for some great moments that we just would not have captured otherwise.

Jenn & Russ's Engagement Shoot in Macon

This was my first photo shoot in Macon and we found some great spots for pictures. All these great downtown locations were so quite on a Sunday evening. I spent two weekends in a row with Jenn & Russ from this engagement shoot to their awesome wedding at the Brasstown Valley resort in North Georgia and they have been so amazing to work with. Stay tuned for pictures from the wedding!

Jenn's Bridal Shoot

Photographed my first ever official bridal shoot last week down near Macon, Georgia. Many thanks to Jenn, the bride-to-be, for risking getting her dress a little dirty for some good photos! Also, a big thank you for our family friend Florence who graciously let us use her farmland for the shoot.

Jessica & Mark, Decatur

Enjoyed getting these natural feeling photos of Jessica and Mark walking from the church to the reception. We did a few posed shots but as always, these unplanned photos are better.

Shaken, Not Stirred

Captured this classic look at Leon's Full Service bar before a wedding in Decatur this past weekend. Something about it evokes James Bond to me.

Hardeman-Sams House in Athens

I think this is one of my favorite "getting ready" shoots. The big open rooms at the historic Hardeman-Sams House provided great natural light to get some classic looking black and white photos. I like these shots because they capture the mood of this old Athens mansion.

POPTPOP with Ted Turner

Could not resist posting this photo of someone taking a picture of Ted Turner with an iPhone.
I am a fan of this POPTOP blog so follow the link for further reading: http://poptpop.blogspot.com/

An Evening With Ted Turner

Tuesday night I photographed Ted Turner at the Atlanta International School. Two students at the school interviewed him on stage before an audience. There were lots of questions about The Braves, CNN, and his Ted's Montana Grill (which I do love) but all I would have wanted to talk about were all the cool Chuck Norris movies I got to watch on TBS Superstation when I was a kid. Anyone remember the awesomeness of Lone Wolf McQuade?

Piedmont Park Proposal

Today I got to photograph the engagement of Ben & Kayte in Atlanta's Piedmont Park. Ben had contacted me a few weeks before with the idea of photographing the actual proposal and I thought it was a great idea. I was not sure how he was going to convince her to go to the park in below-freezing weather but he pulled it off and everything went according to plan (nice work Ben). My wife and I had to pretend to be photographing the frozen pond so Kayte would not spot us too soon. We had so much fun doing this. Congratulations to Kayte & Ben!

Kathleen & Nick, Decatur, Georgia

I have lived in Decatur for three years but all my weddings have been in other Atlanta neighborhoods or as far off as Mexico or Michigan. So I was thrilled to finally shoot a wedding less than a mile from home and at the Decatur First United Methodist Church where I grew up. I loved shooting in the original stone chapel and it was a perfect choice for a fall wedding.

"Nothing To Fear and Nothing To Doubt"

I read an interview with Radiohead's Ed O' Brien in which he said that the band will head back to the studio in January "without fear" to hopefully make a new album. It reminded me of the lyrics to Pyramid Song which prompted me to post the picture directly below and a few others. They were all taken with a Lensbaby which is my favorite lens to use when I am traveling because it is mostly plastic and won't break if I bang it against a wall (and I can just dry it off if I drop in a lake). Anyway here's to a new Radiohead album in 2010. Cheers and Happy New Year's Eve.

Season's Greetings!

So glad these families asked me to photograph their holiday cards.
The holiday season is pretty much over but it's not too early to book for next year.......

Family Shoot at Serenbe

Last month I had the chance to photograph the Chapman family after a community festival out at Serenbe Farms near Newnan. It's a terrific environment for portraits and also an awesome place for wedding. Hope I can shoot one there sometime soon!
